Another knitting fear conquered… the knit-on border.
Easy-peasy, and actually quite fun!
Now I have to go through my Victorian Lace Today book and reconsider all those patterns I was afraid of because of the knitted border.
My knitting horizons have expanded. I love it when that happens.
(This is soon to be a Foliage Shawl by MimKnits. Why aren’t more people knitting this one? It’s fingering weight yarn, and works up rather quickly – and is quite pretty, too… I think)
What is mocking you on your knitting horizon? What are you still afraid of?
It looks so beautiful!!! Hurrah for conquering a knitting fear!!! I fear Fair Isle. It looks so hard. But then again, I can remember when I feared the purl stitch and cables – and they were a snap. But yeah, Fair Isle will be harder than that!!!
That’s looking great! Thanks for the encouragement. Looming very near on my horizon is Hyrna-Herborgar. But I seem to be much better at starting things than finishing them lately.

Expanded horizons? Or a longer list… That looks great BTW!!
Woohoo! It’s going to be beautiful. Foliage is pretty high on my list, I even have yarn for it, but then, lo, I started my holiday knitting 🙂
Good for you!! I remember being afraid of the knitted on border myself. It was kind of embarrassing when I discovered how easy it was.
I fear intarsia. I’m terrified it will have holes and look like crap. Thank goodness intarsia isn’t terribly popular … yet.
It is really breath-taking. Love the rich color too. You go girl!
Gorgeous! Knitted on borders scare me, too. As does steeking. I just need to try it sometime and get over it already.
Gorgeous!
Gloves are the ones that get me. I tried it once and failed miserably. But then again we moved to Key West Florida and it’s not that critical to gain that skill…..lol
Love the border & the color of your shawl. I had the same fear when I was knitting my Pi Shawl but it turned out well & I also enjoyed knitting it.
you go girl! That is beautiful and the color, wow!
The knitters lightbulb went off in my head a few months ago when I realized I finally got this knitting thing. I want to design a sweater for Kailey, but I’m still worried about screwing up and wasting all the time.
