I’m in need of some serious sock mojo. I don’t even remember the last time I knit a sock. It’s one of those things that seems to go in spurts. But I haven’t been on a “sock spurt” in a long time.
Normally this wouldn’t bother me – I’d just wait for the muse to return. But, I’m supposed to go on a SOCK cruise in a month… and I’d really like to have some sock mojo by then.
It’s so bad I couldn’t even be tempted by new sock yarn.
This week when Kaity and I were at Knit Night at our LYS, Lois, the owner, dumped out this HUGE bag of brand spankin’ new Jitterbug sock yarn. Woweeeeeee, GORGEOUS STUFF!! We were all having personal sock yarn-fondling moments. And I felt that “I have to have this” thing you get when someone dares to touch/look at the yarn you happen to be making out with at the moment. Mine!!!
But did I buy any to add to my pile o sock yarn there? Nope. You know me… I have stash issues. My more practical self reminded my infatuated self that I already HAVE a bunch of sock yarn I already fell in love with at home. And, it just sits there. I don’t knit it, I just wind it into cake form and stare at it.
See, I just don’t have the sock mojo, and buying new yarn isn’t gonna bring it back. I tried that a few weeks ago with those pretty skeins of Koigu – and they haven’t even made into beloved “cake status” yet.
So, I didn’t buy yarn at Knit Night, and I didn’t knit socks. So, what did I knit? Oh, about three rows forward, two rows back on my Central Park Hoodie sleeves. About an hour into Knit Night I noticed I had knit the two sleeves together. Oy. Back up. I really shouldn’t knit and talk at the same time.
But, back to my sock problem. Help me…….
The sock muse – she has left the building. She’s probably at you house. SEND HER BACK!
