ala Sesame Street, “One of these things is not like the other….“Two of these things are kind-of the same….”
Go ahead and laugh. Kaity’s still laughing at me. Even worse, I didn’t even notice my heel was knit on sideways until I was about 1″ from being finished with the socks. So much for my first toe-up socks.
But you have to admit – the stripes match superbly.
I’m a knitiot. I should keep these sock stuffed in my purse and whip them out anytime anyone sees me wearing something I’ve knit and gushes with the inevitable, “Oh, I could NEVER knit anything like that!” I’m always telling people, seriously, it’s not that hard – If I can knit, anyone can knit.
Proof positive. And, well, maybe it is a little hard, for me anyway :o(
(Oh – and BTW, I LOVE this yarn. On-Line Supersocke 100, colorway 931)
Too funny, you just made my day. They do “look” beautiful. Can’t imagine how that one sideways toe must actually feel on the foot. I just ripped out a sock that was toe up and I was 2″ into the ribbing, when I realized it was too small. As a fellow knitter once told me, “I don’t mind ripping out, I get joy from knitting (any knitting), so more joy for me”….and you, too, apparently!
Good for a chuckle for sure. I’m sure ripping is good for the soul, and this case, the sole as well. Did you pray for patience or something? What is that yarn. I’ve been really over the self-patterning yarn, but have to say that one is really cute!
Great colors and beautiful short row heel though! They’re so nice… you really should fix the toe you know. You’ll love them so much more if you do. But I know how you feel about the “f word”. 🙂
I thought about you as we drove through your town yesterday. Actually, I thought about you right after we drove through your town and I realized where we’d been. Oh well, pretend I waved.
Been there .. knit that!! Believe me, you woun’t do it twice .. well at least I haven’t, yet!!
You DID manage to get those stripes perfectly matched though!
ummm…please remind me to tell you about the time I completely forgot how to turn a heel!
The colours are so cute and pretty on the socks! It took me a long time starng at the photo and wondering what the sideways part meant, before I finally noticed the toe part 🙂 No one will see that after you put on your shoes.
Oh, dear, that is funny 🙂 But it would be easy to do, so don’t feel to silly. Pretty socks colors, too.
Well, hopefully you won’t do it again! The stripes great though! I wonder if you could figure out a way to take it out from the bottom of the toe and fix it. Hmmm, oh who cares! Thanks for the giggle 🙂
*giggle. snicker. snort* You have to keep those. Priceless!
is it one yarn wich do all this stripes? waouw!!! its terrific!!!!
oy! But those are some great looking stripes! 🙂
Heck, since the stripes match perfectly, wear them with pride!!! Matching the stripes is really the hardest part anyway. 🙂
You did match the stripes perfectly, and that’s a parade worthy feat in and of itself. Comfort yourself with a cookie or two.
Hee hee hee! (Sorry, couldn’t resist!)
This more objective knitter says, “That’s not a big deal, Lynda! Enjoy your new socks :~)”
They look wonderful! The stripes do match!
Good Job hope you enjoy them.
NOW I see! Oh, Lynda. Just think of what fun they could be to re-knit!
Oh, that’s pretty funny! I have never knit toe up socks yet but now I know what to watch for. No matter what, they still look great and I am amazed with how nicely the stripes match!
Just tell people you were going for a “star” toe – I did those on a pair of socks and they look sideways! Gorgeous otherwise! I just love Online’s colorways – they are unique but so pretty!
OMG that’s awesome – I love that you’re not fixing them!!
